Transfer in Player - Charlie Adam

It’s still 3 more hours to go before I finish work and I’m already feeling so sleepy. Working alone makes it even worst. To avoid being doze off, I’m gonna try and finish another post on a transfer in player, Charlie Adam. Hope you enjoy it :)

Adam’s Background

Adam is the son of former professional player Charles Adam, a midfielder who played for various Scottish clubs in the 1980s and 1990s.Adam's brother, Grant, is a goalkeeper and plays for Rangers' under-19s team. He attended Dundee's Braeview Academy, alongside fellow future footballers Garry Kenneth and Scott Robertson.

Adam’s Club Career

Early career at Rangers

Dundee-born Adam joined Rangers on his fifteenth birthday, 15 December 2000. He made his debut appearance on 14 April 2004 against Livingston and played sporadically thereafter but did not become a first-team regular until the management of Paul Le Guen. He made an appearance at the start of the 2004–05 season, and then joined First Division club Ross County on loan for the rest of that campaign. While in Dingwall, Adam made fifteen appearances, scoring twice, against Raith Rovers and St. Mirren. He also played in the 2004 Scottish Challenge Cup Final against Falkirk. County were ahead courtesy of David Winters 56th minute goal. Adam was substituted in the 60th minute as was team mate Sean Higgins six minutes later. Neil Scally and Darryl Duffy then scored in 70 and 75 minutes respectfully for Falkirk to come back to lift the trophy.

St Mirren (Loan)

Adam then joined First Division side St. Mirren on loan for the 2005/06 season. During his spell in Paisley, he again appeared in the 2005 Scottish Challenge Cup Final, however this time he was on the winning side as St. Mirren defeated Hamilton Academical 2–1. He was also part of the team that won the First Division title in May 2006. In total he made thirty-seven appearances and scored nine goals for the Buddies during a very successful stint in Paisley. Charlie became attached to the club and still comes to St Mirren Park to take in games and support the players in his free time.

Rangers first team

After playing for Rangers during a July 2006 pre-season trip to South Africa, including scoring a hat-trick against a Jomo Select side, Adam began the 2006–07 season with the club, and he started in their first league match against Motherwell. He continued to be a regular for Rangers as the season progressed, and scored his first goal for the club in a 3–2 UEFA Cup win over Livorno on 19 October. This was one of fourteen goals Adam scored that season, including strikes against Israeli sides Hapoel Tel Aviv and Maccabi Haifa, as well as a goal in an end-of-season Old Firm match from a free-kick. On 16 April 2007, at the end of his first season in the first team, Adam was voted by Rangers fans as the club's Young Player of the Year at an award ceremony.
On 28 June 2007, it was announced that Adam had signed a new five-year contract with Rangers. Adam had scored his first UEFA Champions League goal on 19 September against VfB Stuttgart, and his second in the return fixture. Adam played against Panathinaikos and Werder Bremen in Rangers run to the 2008 UEFA Cup Final where he was an unused substitute. Rangers lost 2-0 to Zenit St Petersburg.

Blackpool (Loan)

On 2 February 2009, Adam signed on loan with English Championship club Blackpool until the end of the 2008–09 season. Five days later, he was sent off on his debut for the Seasiders during a 3–2 defeat by Doncaster Rovers at Bloomfield Road.
On 25 February, after serving a three-match suspension, Adam scored twice, including a goal from just inside the halfway line, for the club's reserve team as they beat Accrington Stanley 4–2. Adam scored his first Football League goal for Tony Parkes's men in a 2–0 victory over Norwich City at Bloomfield Road on 7 March. Two days later he was named in the Football League's "Championship Team of the Week”. His second goal for Blackpool came on 11 April in their 1–0 West Lancashire derby win over Preston North End at Deepdale. Blackpool's then-caretaker manager Tony Parkes publicly admitted he was keen to sign Adam permanently. He said, "I have spoken to our club secretary and we will be in touch with Rangers to see if we can do a deal for Charlie". At the end of the season, after two goals in 13 appearances, he returned to Rangers.
On 6 July 2009, Rangers confirmed that they had accepted a bid of £500,000 from Blackpool and that he was set to sign for the Seasiders the following day, subject to personal terms being agreed. The following day, Blackpool manager Ian Holloway confirmed a deal had been agreed with the Ibrox club, but stressed that talks with Adam would take place on 9 July, once Adam had spoken with Rangers manager Walter Smith. Four weeks later on 2 August, with Adam still a Rangers player and having been on their pre-season trip to Germany, Smith confirmed that the player was in talks with Blackpool, saying, "Adam is talking to Blackpool at the moment. The clubs have agreed a fee and it will be up to Charlie and his representative." The following day, the Daily Mail reported that Adam had signed for Blackpool on a three-year contract with an option for a further 12 months.

Blackpool

In August 2009 Adam signed a two-year contract with Blackpool with the option of a further year, in a club-record transfer fee of £500,000. His competitive debut as a permanent Blackpool player was in a 1–1 draw with Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road later that month. His first goal came on 26 August in a 4–1 home win over Wigan Athletic in the League Cup.
In January 2010 he was named in the Press Association's Championship "Team of the Week", along with team-mate Neal Eardley following his performance two days before in the 3–2 home victory over Watford. That same month Adam won the Championship Player of the Month award  and was voted the PFA Championship Fans’ Player of the Month for January 2010. In March, Adam scored in his 50th league appearance for Blackpool, a 2–0 win at Plymouth Argyle. Just under a month later, Adam was named in the PFA "Championship Team of the Year".
Blackpool qualified for that season's play-offs. Adam scored a match-winning penalty against Nottingham Forest in the semi-final first leg, and Blackpool won the tie on aggregate. In the play-off final Adam scored a free-kick as Blackpool beat Cardiff City 3–2 at Wembley Stadium and gained promotion to the Premier League.
In the fourth week of the 2010–11 Premier League season, Adam was named in the official Team of the Week. He was named again in week seven, alongside teammate Luke Varney. In early December, a tribunal ruled in favour of Adam in a dispute over unpaid bonuses from the previous season. They found that Blackpool was required to pay the player £25,000 for successfully avoiding relegation to League 1. The club had argued that the promotion bonus (which had been stipulated in Adam's contract) superseded the 'survival bonus.' The panel upheld Adam's complaint, but did not agree with his second argument that the failure to pay the amount constituted a breach of contract on the club's part. As a result, both parties were responsible for their own legal fees - leaving Adam with a very small net gain from the venture.
In January 2011, Blackpool rejected a £4.5 million bid to buy Adam from Liverpool, an amount described by manager Ian Holloway as "disgraceful". Blackpool then rejected a transfer request that Adam had made to the club. He was one of seven nominees for the 2010–11 PFA Players' Player of the Year. However, Adam and his Blackpool team mates were relegated at the season's end.
In May 2011, Blackpool activated an option to increase Adam's contract by a further twelve months.

Liverpool

In July 2011 Liverpool signed Adam from Blackpool for a fee of £7 million after having their initial bid rejected. He played the second half of Liverpool's friendly against Guangdong Sunray Cave in a 4–3 win on 13 July. On 13 August 2011, Adam made his full debut in Liverpool's first game of the 2011–12 Premier League, playing the full 90 minutes in a 1-1 draw against Sunderland at Anfield. There, he assisted the opening goal from Luis Suárez from a free kick outside the area. On Saturday 20 August 2011, he started and played the full 90 minutes against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in a 2-0 away victory. On 24 August 2011, Adam started Liverpool's Carling Cup 2nd round tie with Exeter which finished 3-1 to the Reds. On 27 August 2011, Adam scored his first Premier League goal for Liverpool in a match against Bolton Wanderers which Liverpool went on to win 3-1. On 18 September 2011, Adam was shown a second yellow card for a challenge on Scott Parker in a 4-0 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur. As a result, Adam was suspended for the Carling Cup match against Brighton, which Liverpool won 2-1. Adam has since become a regular in the Liverpool starting eleven. On 26 February 2012, he helped Liverpool to win their first trophy since 2006 as they won the 2012 Carling Cup Final.
Adam’s International Career

Adam was called up by national manager Alex McLeish to the Scotland squad for the first time on 11 May 2007 for a friendly against Austria and a Euro 2008 qualifying Group B match against the Faroe Islands. He made his debut at the Gerhard Hanappi Stadium in Vienna on 30 May as a 67th-minute substitute, in a 1–0 victory. He then made his competitive debut as a 77th-minute substitute in a 2–0 win over the Faroe Islands at the Svangaskarð stadium in Toftir on 6 June.
Adam was recalled to the Scotland squad by manager George Burley for a friendly against Japan on 10 October 2009 at the Nissan Stadium, Yokohama, Japan. Scotland lost the game 0–2, with Adam earning his third cap, and in doing so became the first Blackpool player to represent Scotland since Tony Green in 1971.
On 10 November 2009, Adam was drafted into the Scotland squad for the friendly against Wales four days later. He replaced his former Rangers teammate Kevin Thomson, who pulled out due to illness. George Burley said of Adam: "He scored a cracking goal for Blackpool last weekend. He is a very good replacement. He has been playing consistently, is a quality player, and is getting a real benefit from playing regularly."

Scotland star Charlie Adam tied the knot on the banks of Loch Lomond yesterday with his beauty queen bride Sophie-Leigh Anderson.

Family and friends joined the couple at five-star Cameron House for the stunning celebration.

The bride, 22, who comes from Poulton Le Fylde, near Blackpool, wore a lace dress and matching veil inspired by Kate Middleton’s royal gown designed by Alexander McQueen.

The former Miss Great Britain carried a pale pink bouquet and was attended by two flower girls and two page boys dressed all in white.

Four bridesmaids sported knee-length white cocktail dresses with oversized white bows and £300 nude designer Christian Louboutin shoes.

Sophie has been with Liverpool and former Rangers midfielder Adam for three years. The couple met when the 26-year-old played for her local team Blackpool.

Fellow WAG Laura Miller, wife of Scotland star Kenny and model Danielle Lloyd, who wed Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Jamie O’Hara last week in London, were among the guests.

Strengths: His range of passing is his greatest strength, while his vision and dead-ball skills mark him out above his peers.
Weaknesses: Adam has not been consistent in his career to date and can drift out of games if his focus is not 100%. Not the greatest tackler, as Gareth Bale can attest.
Career high: His 12 goals in 35 games for Blackpool in the 2010-11 Premier League campaign launched him into the spotlight and helped seal his move to Liverpool.
Career low: After a series of loan spells, Adam fell out of favour again at Rangers in 2008 despite having just signed a new five-year deal.
Style: Incisive, direct, classy, a midfielder who can dictate the tempo of the game.
Quotes: ''I think they're mad not to buy him off us because he could replace Xabi Alonso, which they've not done with the greatest of respect. They haven't got that passer - Charlie's the man. If I was the Liverpool manager I'd have him in my team because I would have come up with the money because I rate him.'' Blackpool boss Ian Hollloway talks up his player in January 2011.
Trivia: Adam's brother, Grant, is a goalkeeper and plays for Rangers' Under-19s team.

Hmmm Charlie Adam… I actually dun know what to say bout him. Adam hasn’t been consistent yet. I think he is a midfielder who doesn’t care about anything else when he’s on the run. So far he hasn’t score much for Liverpool FC but he has assists a number of it. I think that is why Kenny Dalglish bid on him. He was helped in scoring so far, hopefully we will see him score even more on the upcoming season. :) Sorry peeps, I just didn’t know what to say.

Henderson’s Club Career

Sunderland

Young Jordan was born in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear. He signed his first professional contract with his hometown club when he was 18. He played his match as a half-time substitute in November 2008 against Chelsea where they were defeated 5-0. He made his first home debut and start against Blackburn Rovers in League Cup.

Coventry Club (Loan)

In January 2009, young Henderson went on loan to Championship Club, Coventry Club for a month-long deal. He made his first debut in a 2-1 defeat to Derby County. Then in 23 Feb 2009, he announced that his loan was extended till the end of the season. Later that month, he scored his first senior goal against Norwrich City. But poor Henderson fractured his fifth metatarsal bone in his foot and returned to Sunderland on 8th April 2009.

Return to Sunderland

2009-2010

In the 2009–10 season, Henderson broke into the Sunderland first team and made several Premier League appearances. He scored his first senior goal for the club against Birmingham City in the Carling Cup third round. He then went on to score his first Premier League goal against Manchester City on 19 December 2009.
Henderson spent the majority of the season on the right side of midfield but played centrally in the absence of Lee Cattermole; his versatility and consistency earning him a new five year contract on 23 April 2010, keeping him with the club till 2015. He also went on to win the Sunderland Young Player of the Year award for the 2009–10 season.
Henderson's first full season with Sunderland was a major success. He won one personal accolade, scored two goals in all competitions and managed six assists.

2010–11

Henderson made a solid start in pre-season, scoring two goals, both away from home against Leicester City and Hoffenheim respectively. Days later, on 13 August his squad number was changed from 16 to 10. Henderson's early season form caught the eye of many observers, most notably Fabio Capello who made Henderson a part of his senior squad to face France on 17 November 2010. Henderson helped Sunderland to an unbeaten run of games against big clubs such as Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea all of whom have since reportedly registered an interest in the player. Henderson went on to score his first goal of the season in the 1–0 win over West Ham United.
On 13 January 2011, Henderson was listed on the official FIFA website as one of thirteen young players to watch in 2011, he ranked alongside Manchester United's David de Gea and Chelsea's Romelu Lukaku. FIFA also added Henderson is "Composed, athletic and powerful". Henderson has also been hailed as "the best young British footballer there is" by his Sunderland manager, Steve Bruce.
Henderson scored twice against Wigan Athletic on 23 April 2011, as Sunderland ended a run of 8 games without a win. Henderson was again named Sunderland's Young Player of the Year for the second season running.

Liverpool

2011–12

On 9 June 2011, Sunderland and Liverpool confirmed they had agreed an undisclosed fee thought to be worth around £17 million for Henderson, who would travel to Liverpool's training facility Melwood to undergo a medical and discuss personal terms regarding a move to Liverpool. Sunderland's chairman Niall Quinn commented on the deal, stating on the official Sunderland website that "Jordan is a credit to himself, his family and Sunderland's Academy and everyone here wishes him the very best for the future". Later that day, Liverpool released video footage of Henderson in club gear at Melwood. He completed the move a day later on 9 June 2011, signing "a long-term deal" with the club.
On 13 August 2011, Henderson made his debut in Liverpool's first game of the 2011–12 Premier League, a 1–1 draw against his former club Sunderland where he was given a mixed reception by Sunderland fans. Henderson's second game was a 2–0 win over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. On 27 August 2011, Henderson scored his first goal for Liverpool in a Premier League fixture at Anfield against Bolton Wanderers. Henderson came on as a second half substitute against Manchester United and almost scored a goal from a volley which was saved by David de Gea. In the League Cup match against Stoke City he assisted Luis Suárez second goal by crossing it in and Suárez finished it with a header. On 26 February 2012, Henderson started on the right of midfield in Liverpool's League Cup Final victory over Cardiff City, before being substituted in the 58th minute. On 9 March 2012, Henderson played his first match against his former club at the Stadium of Light where Liverpool lost 1–0. On 8 May 2012, he scored his second league goal for Liverpool in a 4–1 win against Chelsea at Anfield.

Henderson’s International Career
England Youth
Henderson has represented England at four different levels. He made his debut for the under-19 in 2009 against Czech Republic before breaking into Stuart Pearce's under-21 squad. He then scored his first goal in an England shirt in the European Championship play-offs against Romania, hitting a volley from outside the box to get the first goal in the game.
Henderson was selected in the England U21 squad for the 2011 European Championships, despite having played 40 games already that season. However England Under 21's were knocked out in the group stage. He captained the England U21 team in a 6–0 win over Azerbaijan U21 on 1 September 2011, scoring one goal in the Euro 2013 qualifier. He then scored his 4th under-21 goal in a 2–1 win away at Norway, maintaining England's 100% record in Euro 2013 qualification.

Senior Team
On 11 November 2010, Henderson was omitted from England's U21 squad for their friendly with Germany, instead receiving his first call up to the senior England squad on 17 November 2010, for their friendly against France. He made the starting line up, starting in midfield alongside Steven Gerrard.

EURO 2012
On 16 May 2012 he was named as a standby player in new England manager Roy Hodgson's UEFA Euro 2012 squad. On 26 May 2012 he received his second cap for England in a 1–0 friendly win against Norway national football team, coming on as a substitute replacing Gareth Barry in the second half. On 31 May 2012, he was called up to the England Euro 2012 squad to replace the injured Frank Lampard. He featured in England's first game of the tournament against France, coming on as a late substitute for Scott Parker. He later featured in the Quarter-final v Italy in which England were knocked out.

I found this on here

Jordan Henderson has admitted that it was difficult to quit Sunderland after spending all of his youth and the first few years of his senior career at the club.
The 20-year old England international also grew up in Sunderland and said that to depart for Liverpool was hard but something he really wanted to do.
Henderson told Sky Sports: “Liverpool’s a massive club. I’ve been at Sunderland a long time and I’ve supported them since I was a kid so it hurt a little bit to go, but obviously Liverpool’s a massive, massive club and I’m looking forward to the future, I’m really excited by it,”.
And Henderson added that he was looking forward to life under manager Kenny Dalglish.
“Yeah, definitely. The manager’s been there for only a short space of time and you can see how well he’s done,” he added.
“The players have done brilliantly as well, so [I am] really looking forward to it.”

Strengths: Excellent deliveries from set-pieces and in open play and a fantastic football brain; he is equally as dangerous when advancing with the ball at his feet

Weaknesses: As yet unproven at the highest level and Kenny Dalglish will also be hoping the midfielder can add more goals to his game; four strikes in 71 Premier League games for Sunderland was not a great return.

Career high: Winning his first full England cap against France at Wembley.

Career low: With the media spotlight on him, Henderson failed to produce any performances of note at the European Under-21 Championship as England crashed out at the group stage.

Style: A playmaker whose ability to create goals for others has made him a real creative asset.

Quotes: "Jordan is very mature for his age. He is respectful and his principles and everything else on and off the pitch are exemplary. Not only is he a talented footballer, he's a really good person as well. He loves his football and he is very appreciative of what Sunderland have done for him."Kenny Dalglish, June 2011.

Trivia: Henderson was responsible for creating 82 goalscoring opportunities for his team-mates in 2010-11 - 39 more than any of his team-mates and the fourth best total in the Premier League.

I found while seeking for article on the hottie. This was written by a Sunderland fan I think. If this belongs to you and you dun want it on my site, mail me and let me know!

As a Sunderland supporter, I have watched Jordan Henderson play week-in week-out for the past couple of seasons. Although not baffled by all of this criticism of the transfer fee, I feel that I must make a couple of points about a player who I feel can be a real asset to Liverpool. I get the feeling that many people don't really know what he does, which is hardly surprising given the pathetic amount of air time afforded to us by Match of the Day every week. After the world cup, many of us began to really notice the sheer lack of technical talent in the England set-up. By this, I'm not talking about crossing or shooting ability, I'm talking about close control, quick passing and most importantly of all, tactical awareness. Jordan has these traits in abundance and, far from comparing him to the likes of the great Xavi and Iniesta, his approach to the game is very much as a team member rather than as a maverick. He won't drive through the middle of the park and smash a last-minute cup final half volley into the corner when he's got cramp, but what he will do is keep the game ticking over and, when the chance presents itself, show that he knows how to whip in a dangerous cross or play a nicely weighted through ball.

Of course, this style of play won't make him a fan favourite, and his popularity in Sunderland was partly due to his local roots. Sometimes, there were groans from the fans when he passed the ball backwards or sideways, but those of us watching more closely could see that he was simply playing patient, intelligent football. His touch in tight situations is excellent and he always seems to find a one-two or a small gap to get the ball through to a team-mate. It struck me during the England game this week that some of our players aren't remotely willing to receive the ball when closely marked, but Jordan will. It's exactly what the England team is lacking, and the reason we've heard so much since last summer about non-competitive football for kids in order to teach them how to play the game 3 or 4 steps ahead, like the boys at Barcelona do. For me, the problem with this style of play is that you are only as good as the players around you. We all know that Barca excel due to the fact that each and every player is comfortable on the ball. Unfortunately for Henderson, there have been times this season when some of his team mates haven't been on the same page as him, but I would imagine that he'll settle in nicely in a very talented Liverpool midfield.

So, he moves on to his new club with my blessing, and I'm sure that of most Sunderland supporters. My message to Liverpool fans is just give him time, but I'm sure they will, given his age. He's not the traditional 'Roy of the Rovers' English midfielder, but a player with class and real potential. If Jack Wilshere is the midfielder England always wanted, then Jordan Henderson may well be the midfielder England needs.

Remember I aint no expect, I’m just giving my opinion.

I have seen this hunky playing. Personally I think he is a very talented footballer. He knows his advantage and uses them very well. I mean he knows how to control and make goal opportunities not only for himself but also for other.
Will Jordan Henderson be an asset to Liverpool? My answer will definitely be yes! I think he will be a great asset to Liverpool. A player with his talents and being humble, I think he can sure make a name for himself here. For someone who’s not been in Liverpool for so long, I feel that he made some great progress. For a player his age, I think we should just give him time and space to move round, and he will grow to be an even greater asset to Liverpool.

All the lads out there, the last time I checked Jordan is still single :)
